Appreciation

I thank all the donors and appreciate each and every one of them for assisting the children who will be the future leaders, teachers salaries and books. The community appreciates the donations given from betterplace.org which has contributed a great change within the environment. The children did not have electricity nor a conducive learning environment, but now the children are healthy, happy and bright. May I take this opportunity to thank Leo for his commitment to see the children get borehole water which is a big challenge in our locality. I also want to assure all the donors that all donations given are utilized for their intended purpose.

Thank you and God bless you,
Anna

New Tables and Chairs!

The carpenter is finishing the table and chairs for the new classroom for KG3.

While the Cecil kids are enjoying their Christmas holidays, we have been working hard on preparing a new classroom. Since last year we have had a new classroom but there were no tables and chairs yet. By selling handmade Christmas cards, and because we received generous donations on Betterplace, we have been able to collect money for tables and chairs. We have hired a carpenter to make nice wooden furniture. We put it in the new classroom which will now be the classroom for KG3, so they don’t need to share a classroom with the smaller children any more. When the Cecil Kids come back to school in the new year, they will be very happy to see this Christmas present!

A sewing machine for the cook

Thanks again to everyone who helped us to pay the cook’s salary. She decided to use this money to buy a sewing machine. Cooking for the Cecil kids doesn’t take all day, so now she can earn money in her free time by repairing clothes.

Mamba trip photos

See the children from the slum of Bombolulu riding horses. You might think they come from Texas USA but these photos are taken around the crocodile farm in North Coast of Mombasa. Ashley and Mariam emerged to be the winners. Would you mind to clap for them and send a euro to these wonderful kids?

Wow Mariam is bold enough

The children are having fun!

Jonah says there is no joke even if Kituku and Catherin laugh he will ride.

Alice could not be left aside. She is the oldest in the class and had never been to school before

Women land right workshop and environment day

Our youth group participated in the workshop of women land rights of ownership. We are really concerned about rights of women of ownership of property in their family. We want to see that there is a gender balance within our community.

We also fight for conserving our environment to be clean and nice so that we may avoid pollution of the environment which may be harmful to human health. Because we have seen in our area that most of the contamination of the environment is disposal of waste, which has caused a lot of deseases like cholera and typhoid. So we volunteer as youth to clean the environment so that it may be safe to the community. Even now we are continueing to do so to maintain the tidyness of our environment.

Successful Income Generating Activity

We are very thankful to all supportors of Mkunguni Cecil Youth group for supporting our project. The money that was donated to us is very beneficial for us, because we used it to complete our shop and to buy some chairs. We are hiring the chairs but they are not enough because we have only twenty chairs and we are getting more orders at the same time. We kindly request for more chairs through your donations. Thank you for all donations.

The first chairs we bought from donations on Betterplace. We are hiring these chairs as an income generating activity.
